Several Crowfield Plantation residents reported car break-ins last week. None of the cars showed signs of forced entry and few valuables were taken.
Officers were called out to Lakeview Terrace at 4 a.m. Sept. 11 regarding a Jeep Wrangler that had been broken into.
The owner told police that she was awakened by the car alarm. Fortunately all that was taken was $2 in loose change.
Officers did a patrol of the neighborhood and found several other cars had been rummaged through. Most found no items stolen, others reported only loose change missing.
The search turned up evidence suggesting Hamlet car owners may also have been targeted. Officers expanded the patrol and found a handful of additional victims.
In all, a 20 cars had been rummaged through.
