Council Members Sworn In Friday Morning
Winners in municipal elections take oath in public ceremony.
Two incumbents and a new member of the Goose Creek City Council will take the oath of office early Friday morning.
Councilmen John McCants and Jerry Tekac were re-elected in the April 3 municipal election. Franklin Moore defeated incumbent Sal Gandolfo in the April 17 runoff.
Friday's ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. in Council Chambers, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd. Judge Dale Van Slambrook will be administering the oath of office.
John McCants and Jerry Tekac will begin their term on May 5. Moore will begin his term May 19.
Councilman McCants has spent 40 years in Goose Creek and was first elected to council in 1992.
An executive with NBSC, Tekac Tekac had spent eight years on the city's planning commission before winning his first election in 2008. He received the most votes of any candidate, with a large number of them coming from the Crowfield community he calls home.
Moore, a 30-year-old engineer and former Goose Creek Planning Commission chairman, took 448 of the 825 votes cast in the runoff.
