Update: Cyclist Dies After School Bus Collision

Death ruled accidental in St. Stephen incident.

Update, 8:27 a.m., Jan. 31: The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Addison Robinson Jr., 49, of St. Stephen.

Original Report: An unidentified man died Monday after his bicycle collided with a school bus in St. Stephen, according to the Berkeley County Coroner's Office.

At 5:37 p.m., the school bus was traveling east on Universal Circle when the cyclist reportedly shifted lanes and pulled in front of the bus, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol, which is investigating the crash. Three students were on the bus and were not injured.

The cyclist was flown to MUSC, where he died at 6:57 p.m. of multiple body trauma. Deputy Coroner Kristen Demmerle ruled the death accidental. The name will be released after the family has been notified.
