Fatal Wreck in Bonneau

Driver dies at the scene, passenger taken to hospital.

One person is dead and another injured following an early-morning wreck in Bonneau, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

James Seay, 48, died at the scene of the accident. An unidentified woman who was ejected from the vehicle was transported to a Charleston hospital and her condition was not known.

According to Salisbury, Seay was driving his truck on Harristown Road when it ran off the right side and struck several trees. Seay and his passenger were not wearing their seatbelts.

Seay’s death will be ruled accidental with the cause of death as head trauma, according to Salisbury. The accident is under investigation by the Coroner’s Office and the S C Highway Patrol.
