Final Reading Slated for Smoking Ordinance
First reading passed in split 4-3 vote with Goose Creek mayor in opposition.
City Council will have its final vote for Goose Creek's smoking ban Tuesday during its regular meeting of council at City Hall.
The first reading passed 4-3 in December with Mayor Michael Heitzler, Marguerite Brown and John McCants opposing the ban.
The ban would prevent smoking inside Goose Creek businesses. In September, a similar measure failed in City of North Charleston. However, the City of Charleston and the Town of Summerville have similar laws.
