Police Search for Suspect in Rape, Attempted Murder

Man accused of forcing his self on ex, severely beating her.

Goose Creek Police are searching for a man accused of beating and sexually assaulting a former girlfriend early Sunday.

Steven Lee Morgan, 37, of Georgia, is wanted for first-degree burglary. According to police spokesman Capt. John Grainger, Morgan will also face charges of kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 

Morgan is accused of forcing himself into the woman's home in Ryan Creek, a neighborhood between St. James Avenue and South Goose Creek Boulevard. He then allegedly severely beat and sexually assaulted the woman. She was transported to MUSC with serious injuries, according to Grainger.

Morgan was armed with a knife and fled the home in a 1998 champagne-colored Ford-150 pickup truck with the license plate GE1221. The picture at right is of a similar truck. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
