Edible art at its best!

Sushi has surged in popularity and makes for a fun evening out with friends. Choosing a variety of sushi rolls to share can provide an opportunity to try something new and to even be a little adventurous.

From sashimi to your basic California Roll, there’s at least one thing on that menu to please everyone from the sushi snob to the beginner.

Once you get over the fear of eating raw fish and using those chopsticks, it's a matter of finding the best places in town to eat.

Where's the best place in your town to eat sushi? Which place has the freshest fish?  Is there one that stands out because of the variety of rolls?

Vote for your favorite restaurant in Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and West Ashley to be part of our "Best Sushi" contest as Patch unveils its Readers' Choice. Nominations ended July 9. Winners will be announced in August.

Don't just vote, tell us why you picked your favorite in the comments. If your favorite isn't on the list, throw them a shout out in the comments below.

So far, I've been most impressed with Fuji in the Belle Hall Shopping Center of Mt. Pleasant

I tried Fuji the other day and it was very good.. Wasabi's in summerville.. But the best is in Mt pleasant on Coleman. Oriental Garden.. huge rolls and you get your moneys worth.. not just bite size pieces... and its always good.. been going for 10 years.

Miyabi's new chefs are the best I've had in West Ashley for traditional nigiri sushi, if you like the real thing like they make it in Japan (not huge, taste the fish, not the wasabi). Best test for nigiri sushi: using chopsticks, does it fall apart when picked up?
