Obituary: Josephine Karrow

Josephine R. Karrow, 86, of Summerville, passed away September 14, 2012 in her residence.

Born in Morgan City, La., she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Sanfratello Candelaro and widow to Monnie E. Karrow. She retired from State Farm in Mt. Airy, Md.,after many years of service and continued to work part time with the company until she moved to South Carolina. Mrs. Karrow loved to bake pies, Christmas cookies and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Edgewater, Fla. Mrs. Karrow loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita Bongiorno and husband Tom of Summerville, two grandchildren, Jon-Thomas Bongiorno and wife Amanda of James Island and Scott Bongiorno and wife Alex of Cranberry, Penn., three great grandchildren, Elliot, Taylor and Ryan. Mrs. Karrow is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville. Burial will be Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 in Beaufort National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. in McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel, 869 St. James Avenue.
