Speak Out: Where Does Baby Veronica Belong?

Veronica has lived with her adopted parents for years but has been moved back to her Cherokee tribe per court order. Tell us what you think in the comments!

The U.S. Supreme Court is listening to arguments Tuesday in the custody case of baby Veronica.

James Island couple Matt and Melanie Capobianco adopted her about four years ago, but her father, a member of the Cherokee Tribe filed suit for custody of her under the Indian Child Welfare Act, and the South Carolina Supreme Court sided with him last year. The Capobiancos appealed to the Supreme Court.

The , but later decided to contest the adoption. Veronica's mother was not a member of a Native American tribe.
