Lightning Strike Displaces Family of Five
Summerville family receives assistance from Red Cross.
A lightning strike to a home early Saturday morning has displaced a Summerville family of five.
American Red Cross volunteers responded to an emergency call after a Summerville home sustained major damage due to a lightning strike early this morning fire.

The Red Cross provided the family, which includes two children, shelter in a nearby hotel, financial assistance to help replace the food and clothing that was lost in the fire, comfort kits containing personal hygiene items, toys for the children and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies.
The Lowcountry Red Cross has assisted 104 individuals affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, since July 1 of this year.
