Police: Man Driving in Circles on 176 Arrested for DUI
Police say Phillip David Tinskey attempted to evade arrest.
A Ladson man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly drove in circles on Highway 176 and attempted to evade arrest.
David Phillip Tinskey, 27, was charged with a DUI and resisting arrest.
At around 1 a.m., an officer stationed near the corner of 176 and Farm Road observed a vehicle make two complete circles across six lanes on Highway 176. The officer reported the vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk.
The suspect pulled over at Alex's, but pulled to the back of the building. Once there, police say he exited the vehicle and ran into the nearby wooded area. A perimeter was established and Tinskey was apprehended a short time later.
According to the report, Tinskey was charged with:
- DUI, first offense
- Driving under suspension, first offense
- Simple possession marijuana
- Open container of beer
- Resisting arrest
Tinskey has run into trouble with Berkeley County law enforcement before. He was arrested in August 2011 for allegedly stealing copper, and in 2012, he was arrested for disorderly conduct.
