Witness: Walterboro Gang Started Shooting that Killed Goose Creek Woman

Sierra Truesdale was killed Sunday morning.

Sunday's shooting at a St. George nightclub that claimed the life of a young, Goose Creek woman may be connected to members of a Walterboro gang, according to witnesses.

Dorchester County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Phinney said the investigation is ongoing but that investigators are looking into whether or not gang members are responsible for the death of Sierra Denise Truesdale, 23, at the Starlite Lounge in St. George.

The suspected gang is identified as the Cowboys out of Walterboro. A similar sounding gang called the Get Moneyy Cowbois is present on Facebook but Phinney said investigators aren't sure if the gangs are the same. He added that Colleton County has many factions of gangs. One of the witnesses said the gang could be found on their Facebook page in the report.

Phinney said it does not appear that Truesdale was a member in a rival gang, but just the victim of a non-gang-related altercation that included some gang members.

Truesdale and her friends were at the club celebrating her 23rd birthday. According to the incident report, Truesdale and her friends were not directly involved in the altercation with the Cowboys members.

According to a witness in the report, members of the Cowboys gang put American flag bandanas over their faces, went outside the club, and began firing off rounds out there — where Truesdale was struck trying to flee with her friends.

Two of Truesdale's friends had put her in a vehicle and were taking her to the hospital when they flagged down a deputy. The deputy called Dorchester County EMS, but Truesdale was pronounced dead upon their arrival on the scene.

While the deputy attended Truesdale and her friends, two other vehicles sped past with the two other people wounded at the nightclub during the shooting.
