City Poised to Annex Vacant Food Lion Tuesday
Second and final reading slated for regular meeting at City Hall.
The second and final reading of an ordinance to annex the vacant Food Lion and the surrounding shopping center near the entrance of Crowfield Plantation on St. James Boulevard is on Goose Creek City Council's agenda for the 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting at City Hall.
First reading was passed during a special reading Aug. 29.
Plantation Station has remained outside the City's jurisdiction for years while its owner, University of South Carolina Foundation, did little with the property.
According to Count on 2 News, the new owner of the property Albert Heyward has plans for the property to come into the city and convert the grocery store into a mini storage business. Heyward said it would be a "high end" storage unit with business offices, Count on 2 News reported last month.
