Calling all Gators, Knights, Hawks and Cobras: Get ready to show your support in a new spot on the back of your car.

The night before they headed to Clemson for the state championship, Goose Creek football coach Chuck Reedy noted the community's embrace of the school's sports program. The support is evident on the nearest car window or bumper.

"You can't go anywhere where you don't see those gator eyes or a 'GC' on the back of a car," Reedy said.

A Statehouse bill expected to receive a key vote later this month would add several new speciality plates through the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles. That includes allowing new plates for the state's high schools.

Under the legislation, the plates would come with a $70 fee every two years, in addition to standard plate registration. The fee would provide $30 for the DMV and $40 for academic scholarships.
