School District Restricts Public Comments on Ethics Charges

The chairman of the Berkeley County School District has changed its public comment policy to restrict comments on the ethics charges currently being investigated by SLED, the Berkeley Independent reported.

The ethics charges stem from the district's involvement in the $198 million school bond referendum passed last November

The publication reported:

"The district referred all questions to Childs and Halligan, the law firm that represents it. John Reagle, of that firm, said the change is a clarification of an existing policy and not an amendment to the policy."
