Abused Dog In a New Home

Found this summer with a chain embedded in his neck, Lucky is now adopted.

The 4-year-old pit mix found in Liberty Hall in early July with a chain embedded in its neck has almost fully recovered and has now found a permanent home.

Named Lucky by the volunteers at the Doc Williams SPCA, the dog had apparently been tied up for years and could have outgrown the chain a year ago. It was so tight around Lucky's neck that the chain and the infected tissue by SPCA veterinarian Tom Hentges.

SPCA operations manager Cathy Childress that Lucky was recovering and he was "starting to get frisky." The organization announced this week that Lucky had been adopted.
