Helping Hands Gets Farm Fresh Donations

Farmers Market helps out Goose Creek nonprofit.

For more than 20 years, Helping Hands of Goose Creek has opened its food pantry for the community's needy. ABC News 4 told the story this week of one woman who gets a monthly batch of groceries from Helping Hands to supplement what little she receives in Social Security and food stamps.

"I don't know where it all comes from but somebody has to give it, and I thank you for it," said Hollie.

Along with regular donations from area supermarkets, it turns out that one of those places is the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market.

"Every Tuesday night when the farmers market is in season, we go over there and at the end of the day when they ring that bell, everybody else is packing up, but we are loading up," said Helping Hands Executive Director Michelle Arredondo.
