Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

The talent pool in the area being divided up between the three high schools has no doubt hurtRead More Summerville. Also, our 1300 yard running back from last year bolted for Ohio. Maybe Summerville should declare that it is an art school and pull in the talent they want from all over the district. I've heard, though not certain, that Goose Creek is using this to their advantage. I'm told that kids from outside of the Goose Creek district can play at the school from anywhere in Berkeley County if they are accepted into the art program. And yes, they have great coaching and like many other schools now, a great off season conditioning program. I, for one, will continue to support the Green Wave and the new Summerville High School Athletic Club (SHAC) regardless of wins and losses. I don't know what the answer is to put SHS back at the top in the local area and in the state, but I'm hoping we will get there. The player trash talking and repeat penalties does show a lack of control and discipline. Lets do better Green Wave!
