Governor Haley, Indian Ambassador Rao Hope to Grow Business Relationship

Ambassador Nirupama Rao has been visiting South Carolina, spending time in both Columbia and Charleston. She said she would love to build a relationship that would bring more of India's business to South Carolina.

Gov. Nikki Haley is proud of her Indian heritage, but even more so of the country and the people working and living in the United States. Haley said she wanted an opportunity to partner with India, since becoming governor, and now those talks are underway. “As I became governor, what I saw was an opportunity — it’s an opportunity to partner with a country that continues to be strong when it comes to jobs and…in innovation," Haley said. "And so what I’ve asked is, ‘how do we get Indian companies to come and do business in South Carolina?’ I talked to the ambassador, and we are going to continue to talk.” Ambassador to the United States Nirupama Rao, who has been visiting South Carolina for the last two days, met with Haley at the Statehouse…

DeMint Envisions Life Post-Senate

The U.S. senator spoke Tuesday to local business owners and fellow Republicans.

DeMint was the guest speaker at a quarterly Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce meeting, followed by his own town hall breakfast with regional GOP members. DeMint's speech to Republicans at the Daniel Island Club was one part victory lap and one part troop rally. Bayer currently has a location on College Park Road near Crowfield. Now, BB&T is clearing land on University Boulevard beside the CVS, according to the City of North Charleston. The new branch is half way between the bank’s St. James Avenue location and another office in front of Northwoods Mall.
