More than 100 families assisted with winter and holiday supplies.
Release, Berkeley County School District: On Saturday, Nov. 17, Cane Bay High School (CBHS) hosted its third Community Fair. This year, Cane Bay Middle joined in the efforts to feed and clothe families and individuals in need. There are two very different openings at the Courtyard Marriott at the coliseum. The site needs an event coordinator, someone who can offer a smooth "end-to-end experience" for event clients. The site is also looking for a housekeeper for guest rooms and meeting space. Boeing is hiring a staff analyst. A degree and six years of experience are expected, along with Microsoft application experience. Candidates should also have analytical skills, writing skills and "Boeing Knowledge." Cane Bay High School has openings for teachers in math and science. Applicants must be eligible for state certification. Few details released on student's allegations.
A Cane Bay High School custodian has been charged with allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old student. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and the Berkeley County School District announced the arrest in a joint statement Friday evening. According to the release, deputies responded to Cane Bay High School at 2 p.m. Thursday regarding a report that a custodian had allegedly assaulted a student. On Friday, the Sheriff's Office arrested Wilber Burnette Dash, of Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner. He has been charged with 3rd degree assault. Cane Bay residents and parents worried about school traffic will have a new stop light this summer, according to a report by ABC News 4. The Department of Transportation has approved a permanent traffic light at the intersection at Cane Bay Boulevard. While the engineering is put in place, a temporary light will be installed this summer, according to Mark Nesbit, a DOT traffic engineer. "We will have the signal in place by the time school starts," Nexbit told News 4. Read more of the News 4 report, including the hard work from residents to get the light installed.

Jarrod Harrison walked into Cane Bay High School in the fall with little chance of graduating this year. On Saturday morning, he's walking across the stage to receive his diploma and he'll be heading to Trident Technical College in the fall. Twenty-four credits short, Harrison took classes at Cane Bay during the day and Goose Creek High School through the fall and winter in order to graduate this week. Last month, Harrison was one of several local students honored by U.S. Rep. Tim Scott with the congressman's Courage in Achieving Personal Success Award. Five students make post-grad plans.
Cane Bay High School will be sending off some of the pillars of its young athletic program, as five stars signed scholarships for National Signing Day on Wednesday. Baseball player Quinton Cable will be heading to Spartanburg Methodist College, while teammate Zachary Wimmer makes plans with The Citadel. Softball stars Erin Cook and Tierra Fischler will both attend University of South Carolina Salkehatchie. Track member Ja'Carl Safford signed with the University of South Carolina Beaufort, which also signed three Stratford High students.
