To register, all participants must have their birth certificate and two proofs of residency (driver’s license and a current utility bill). The cost of registration is $45 per player. Goose Creek will be lighting up the night and getting children excited about the holiday with the city's official kick-off to the holidays. The city will turn on its first holiday lights display around the lake at the municipal center. The show will run from 6-10 p.m. through Jan. 1. To celebrate the new Christmas tradition, the city's Recreation Department will be hosting "Goose Creek Christmas" on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the lake. Kids and families will get a look at the new light displays with a children's parade around the lake led by Mayor Michael Heitzler. Goose Creek City Council gave final approval Tuesday to new deed restrictions at the city's Crowfield Golf and Country Club. Under the restrictions, the council will be unable to subdivide the property for the next 25 years. Any attempt may be subject to a lawsuit by city residents, according to the restrictions. Purchased a decade ago, the golf course was paid for earlier this year and is expected to turn a modest profit for the first time in 2012. When he introduced the measure, Mayor Michael Heitzler said the restrictions would provide an added layer of insurance for homeowners surrounding the golf course. Release, Goose Creek Recreation: The City of Goose Creek Recreation Department will host its first HOLIDAY EXPO on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Goose Creek Community Center. This fun family event will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Get a jump start on your holiday shopping and bring the kids along because there are plenty of activities for the entire family. More than 60 vendors and exhibitors will be at the Expo. Along with the holiday items from local crafters, there will be a variety of health professionals and exhibitors. Holiday crafts, jewelry, ornaments, cookies, candies and candles will be part of the wide variety of vendors offering their wares. Walking trail getting some beautification assistance.
The Lions Club is doing its part to beautify Goose Creek. This summer, the city completed work on a walking trail around the pond at the Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center. With a monetary donation from the Lions Club to the city's tree trust fund, the city will be planting 11 caliper live oak trees along the trail. The city has also installed decorative lighting, benches and trash receptacles along the trail. The City of Goose Creek Tree Trust Fund was created after Hurricane Hugo when a donor contributed funds to replant destroyed trees and for the general beautification of the city, according to a municipal release. Donations have resulted in the planting of hundreds of trees within the city.

Release, Goose Creek Recreation: Scare up some family fun at City of Goose Creek’s Free Halloween Carnival and Outdoor Movie set for Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Goose Creek Community Center parking lot. This annual event began more than 20 years ago as an alternative to door-to-door trick or treating. Over the years some features were added and some were taken out, but the basics are still the same. The Halloween Carnival provides an opportunity for Goose Creek children to enjoy carnival games and win some candy to take home. The Carnival will also feature a free jump castle and face painting for the kids. Following the carnival there will be a free outdoor movie behind the Municipal Center. The featured film will be …
