Chris Brown, a Hanahan grad, has been getting attention as one of Notre Dame's freshmen wide receivers. Getty photographer Jonathan Daniel snapped a few shots of Brown trying to make a catch while under pressure from Wake Forest's Chibuikem Okoro. Cane Bay ends season, but the rest of our local teams still in the running.
Goose Creek began the postseason on a strong note Friday, beating Conway, 48-7. That's an even dozen wins so far this year. The Gators will host Bluffton (11-1) on Nov. 16. Stratford has advanced to the second round of the 4A Division l tournament with a win on the road against Dorman. The Knights won 28-17. Goose Creek, Stratford. Cane Bay begin State Championship journey Nov. 9.
The S.C. AAAA championship brackets were announced Thursday, with Goose Creek and Stratford split between Division I and Division II. The Gators, at 11-0 are at the top of the Division II ranks. They'll host Conway (5-6) on Friday. If Goose Creek wins, they'll host the winner between South Florence and Bluffton on Nov. 16. Seeded ninth in the Division I tournament, Stratford (9-2) is on the road in week one against Dorman (8-3). If they win, the Knights will take on top seeded Gaffney or Ashley Ridge. Stratford makes a strong showing, Hanahan moves on in AAA tournament.
We'll be updating this post later tonight with final scores and a brief preview for next week. Goose Creek Gators went 11-0 in the regular season. The lastest win came against the hometown rival Stratford Knights. The final score 31-23, a better showing than most competition has offered this year. The Knights finished the regular season with a solid 9-2. Cane Bay has struggled in the past few weeks, but brought home the victory the Cobras need for a winning season. The Gators are defending a 10-0 record in hopes of making it an undefeated season. Lady Hawks travelling for round three of tournament.
Hanahan's volleyball squad will be visiting North Myrtle Beach on Monday in the semi-finals of the Lower State Class AAA Division II tournament. Last week, the Lady Hawks defeated Brookland-Cayce on Tuesday and Hartsville on Thursday — both on the road. The Lower State title will be decided Wednesday, with the state title game Saturday.

The Hanahan Hawks capped off a terrific 9-1 season Friday night with a win at Stall — but it is far from over. The Goose Creek Gators beat West Ashley on Friday night, 52-7. The Gators are 10-0 heading into the final game of the regular season — against the hometown rival Stratford Knights. Before the big challenge next week, the Stratford Knights defeated South Florence, 38-14. That means a 9-1 record for the Knights heading into the game next week against the Gators.
